For a Texas experience, you might want to visit...

And for the Austin life, check out....

MUSIC

Austin proudly claims the title "Live Music Capital of the World." You can test this bold assertion at a few of our favorite local venues.

  • La Zona Rosa - a small warehouse venue for up-and-coming singers
  • Continental Club - if bikers, hippies, cowboys, pool tables, beer and smoke are your scene
  • Broken Spoke - the quintessential honky-tonk spot with an old wooden dance floor
  • Momo's - as close to a swanky music club that Austin gets (warning to all New Yorkers not to get their hopes up)

NIGHTLIFE

We suggest that you concentrate your "going out" activities in the 4th Street area, also known as the Warehouse District. Located in downtown, these few blocks offer everything from fine dining, Irish pubs, Spanish tapas, independent film houses, salsa dancing, live jazz, and happening clubs...

You may have heard about our infamous 6th Street...don't waste your time unless you want to check out the UT undergrad scene (bring your fake ID to fit in with the crowd)

DINING

If you have time to eat out, here are a few of our favorite Austin restaurants.

  • Curra's - our absolute favorite interior Mexican food restaurant in town, but don't go expecting Tex-Mex
  • Guero's - President Clinton's favorite Tex-Mex spot when he comes to town
  • Jeffrey's - President Bush's favorite restaurant in town (upscale dining)
  • The Salt Lick - definitely worth the 30 minute drive in the beautiful hill country for this world-renown barbeque
  • Threadgill's - for Austin homestyle cooking and lots of creative vegetable sides; also check out their Sunday Gospel Brunch
  • Shady Grove - a great place to eat outside and enjoy a "hippie sandwich"

Dessert or Coffee anyone?

  • Amy's Ice Cream - you can find locations all over Austin, experience the best ice cream you will ever taste served by the most interesting people you will ever meet
  • Mozart's - a great coffee and dessert spot for the afternoon or evening, located directly on Lake Austin
  • Flipnotics - for the ultimate Austin scene, offers poetry reading and open mic nights in the evening

SPORTS

You can catch the five-time national champion Texas Longhorn baseball team host the Oklahoma Sooners in a matinee on Saturday or Sunday at Disch-Falk Field in Austin. If the game goes into extra-innings, you can meet us at the reception. Ed will understand.
